The Farm Weekly Garden Volunteer Drop-in

Saturdays, August 5 to November 4, 2017
1055 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale, CA 94087

Child Looking at Flowers
Starting August 4, 2017, Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) will assume management of the Farm, located on the Peterson Middle School site. The Farm was formerly leased to Sustainable Community Gardens to run their Full Circle Farm program. The Farm will undergo several phases as it develops into an aspirational outdoor education space able to meet the future needs of SCUSD students.
During the Community Conversations on June 1 regarding the transition, the community expressed an interest in SCUSD continuing to provide opportunities for community members to volunteer their time and talent to support the Farm. Starting Saturday, August 5 until November 4, community members will have the opportunity to do drop-in volunteering from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday in the garden area of the Farm. Volunteers will be able to take home harvested fruits and vegetables.
On volunteer days:
  • Enter the garden area through the Dunford Way gate nearest the garden area. The gate will be marked with a sign.
  • SCUSD staff will be on site to help organize activities and provide tools.
  • Activities include harvesting, weeding, composting, digging, tidying, and sharing garden knowledge with other volunteers.
  • Bring sunscreen, hat, water, snacks and/or a lunch, closed toed shoes, garden gloves, and a bag or basket to bring home harvested food.
Stay in touch!

We look forward to seeing your campers soon at our famous Food + Farm Camp

Free Flying Falcons, Soaring Hawks and Chirping Chickadees – it’s going to be a great summer!

We’re excited to present a wonderful opportunity to become garden scientists, expert pizza makers and enjoy the great outdoors.

On June 1, Santa Clara Unified School District hosted a community information and feedback session at Peterson Middle School. There were more than 80 people in attendance at the meeting, including community members, parents, and students. Attendees heard about the past, present, and the future for the 11-acre site. Following the presentation, attendees took part in small group discussions around four topics: educational vision, volunteer opportunities, community accessibility, and community and business partnerships.
If you missed the event, or wish to provide feedback and comments about the future of the farm, please click HERE to complete the community survey. Feedback from the meeting and this survey will be used by the farm planning team and educational services staff as planning for the immediate, interim, and long-term programs progresses.

Full Circle Farm is an urban education farm project of Sustainable Community Gardens (SCG), a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to the renewal of local, sustainable food systems.

Thanks to our benefactor; the Santa Clara Unified School District, we are able to cultivate the land and teach young and old the value of locally grown food.

There is a need for fundamental change in the way that we grow, get, and eat our food. Full Circle Farm represents a shift toward food systems that are local, fresh, and sustainable. Diversified, intensively managed crops and orchards grow on our eleven acre site next to Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale, California. Through our stewardship of this land, we honor our rich agricultural past while demonstrating how powerfully abundant our agricultural future can and should be.

We are located at:

1055 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale

We hope to see you on the farm soon!
